You know how after a long day it’s so easy to come home, zone out in front of the TV, and barely talk before you crash?
Well, this “10-minute rule” is a simple fix: just set aside ten minutes every day for one person to speak while the other listens quietly, then switch.
No distractions, no multitasking. It’s about giving emotional space to share stress, wins, worries... anything.
The goal isn’t to debate or fix problems, but just to be heard and understood.
What I love about it is how flexible it is...you can tweak it however you want.
Maybe it’s in the morning over coffee, or ten minutes after work before you do anything else.
You can even ask for those ten minutes after a fight has cooled down, so one of you can explain what’s still bugging you while the other just listens.
It’s low effort, but it helps rebuild closeness and keeps conversations from slipping away
