You know you've made it when you make it into a Saturday Night Live sketch... let alone when the entire sketch is about your mega-viral song that, yes, even a bunch of dudes playing pool in a bar can't get enough of.
So it's safe to say that Olivia Rodrigo has made it with her song "Drivers License" and this weekend's SNL was proof.
Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page made his SNL hosting debut on Saturday and incorporated a sketch about Olivia’s hit song that truly had me cracking up. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this sketch since Saturday night...
In it, Regé is playing pool with "manly men" when he heads over to the jukebox to play his favorite song. Yes, his favorite song is "Drivers License." As the song goes on the men slowly reveal that they also know the song (well), relate to the song, and all join in for a hysterical sing-along version of it.
Then they start arguing about Taylor Swift’s influence, and whether or not Olivia's song gives them Billie Eilish vibes.
You just NEED to watch this sketch, believe me, it's worth it.
I don’t know if SNL planned it or not but Saturday was also Olivia’s birthday so she was beyond excited. She tweeted her excitement during the show:
Best birthday present for SURE. And not to make you feel old or unaccomplished or anything... but Olivia only turned 18 over the weekend. Happy belated birthday, Olivia!!
By the way, does anyone else REALLY want to hear this song in a bar now after seeing it in a bar setting on the show this weekend?? SOOO much good much has come out during this pandemic that deserves to be played in bars and clubs. Sad.
For now we'll all just be having dance parties in our living rooms I guess!
