Band-Aid Commits To Expanding Bandages To Match More Skin Tones

We've seen a lot of brands and companies stepping up in a major way over the last couple of weeks, in reaction to the protests and the revived civil rights movement happening around the world right now.

But one change that is long overdue? The move by Band-Aid to expand the colors of their bandages.

The company announced the expansion of their bandages skin tone colors on Instagram with a post that began, "We hear you. We see you. We're listening to you."

Over the last two weeks since George Floyd's death and resulting protests and attention focused on the Black Lives Matter movement, people have been sharing what white privilege looks like. One of the things that shows up most often: having Band-Aids that match your skin tone.

Band-Aid continued their announcement about the new colored bandages by saying:

"We are committed to launching a range of bandages in light, medium and deep shades of Brown and Black skin tones that embrace the beauty of diverse skin. We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you.⁣

In addition, we will be making a donation to @blklivesmatter.⁣ We promise that this is just the first among many steps together in the fight against systemic racism.⁣"

While this move is a bit overdue, it's certainly celebrated as a sign of movement for people of color, everywhere. Thank you for doing the right thing here, Band-Aid!
