I've always wondered if celebrities' kids understood what their parents do or if they even realized that their parents were famous at all - and it turns out that Kelly Clarkson's son Remington, 3, has no idea what his mom does. Her daughter River, 4, however, does kind of get it and wants to "sing like mommy," which Kelly joked she has to steer her clear of.
“Our little girl loves dancing and gymnastics. She wants to dance, that’s her big thing. And she wants to sing like mommy, which I’m going to try and steer her clear of."
Obviously Kelly has been in the spotlight ever since she won the first ever season of American Idol in 2002 (HOW was that 17 years ago?!), but her 3-year-old really doesn't realize just how famous his mom is. He actually has no idea they're not just a normal family at all.
“I think they look at me as ‘Mom,’ so they don’t really even [think about it]... [Remington] has no idea. They’re just very normal. We’re not like, in the scene, ever.”
Though they're not "in the scene," much, River and Remington did visit her on set for The Voice and she took the kids, as well as husband Brandon Blackstock and her two step children Savannah and Seth, who both live with Kelly and Brandon, along to the Ugly Dolls premiere.
It's safe to say that Savannah and Seth are probably prettttty aware of just how famous Kelly is! And River and Remington are bound to figure it out pretttty soon, but for now, things can stay just as normal as Kelly wishes.
Could you imagine slowly realizing that not everyone else's parents were well-known and get stopped around town when you went out to dinner?!
