Northern Virginia Community College wants to help federal workers who have recently lost their jobs.
The NOVAnext program will offer a million dollars in scholarship aid to fired and laid-off workers and contractors. Qualified applicants will also be allowed to enroll in one of 14 free courses and use resources available at the college to help them look for new positions.
According to the NOVAnext website, to qualify applicants must:
- Be a displaced federal worker or contractor who was laid off on or after February 1, 2025.
- Reside within the NOVA service area (Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park).
- Have lived in Virginia for at least one year to meet FastForward funding requirements. This applies to FastForward Programs only.*
- Complete the NOVAnext online application – Virginia Career Works will review and confirm eligibility.
According to the program’s website, you can fill out an interest form online to be notified of when applications open.
