A study shows having a sister improves mental health and boosts self-esteem, plus it can actually make you a better person. It has long been believed that you can tell when someone has a sister, and now research shows your sister truly improves you as a person.

According to the study we analyzed, sisters boost our mental health, improve our social skills, and give us the confidence to be more independent! Statistical analysis showed the presence of a sister aided teenagers in particular from feeling of loneliness, feeling unloved, guilt, feeling self-conscious and fearful. It didn’t matter whether the sister was younger or older, or how far apart the siblings were agewise; they still made a lasting impact.

I'm the youngest sibling in my house and If I didn't have my sister Asra to rely on during hard times such as entering highschool, getting into my first car accident without telling my parents, or really any of life's many complications, she was there for me and I was there for her! I can testify that having an older sister can change you for the better. This rule is also important for men! Men who grew up with a strong female role model tend to have more kindness and empathy towards issues than men who did not grow up with a strong female role model and that could be because they picked up some maternal instincts.
