How DMV Residents Can Donate to The People of Maui Affected By The Wildfire

The official death toll from the Maui Wildfires that destroyed the town of Lahaina rose to over 90. The fire is now the deadliest wildfire in modern U.S. History.

If you're in the DMV and wondering how you can help:

#1. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI.

If you have a trip planned in the near future CANCEL IT. There are so many people displaced and the hotel rooms and resources for the residents who lost everything.

#2. Donations:

World Central Kitchen- a D.C.-based nonprofit and their team is on the ground feeding thousands of residents and front-line workers

The American Red Cross has boots on the ground in Hawaii.

The Office of the Governor of the State of Hawaii suggests donating to the Hawaii Community Foundation's "Maui strong Foundation."

The Maui Food Bank is donating food to wildfire victims.

SBP is launching its Disaster Assistance Program which helps survivors apply for FEMA awards. It will also help secure emergency housing.

GoFundMe has also established a list of verified fundraisers that go directly to families affected by the wildfires.
