History was made earlier this week in Virginia because it just became the first state in the South to legalize recreational marijuana thanks to a Virginia General Assembly vote!
Starting on July 1st, adults who are at least 21 will be able to possess up to one ounce of marijuana and grow up to four marijuana plants per household without penalty and it's a huge move for marijuana advocacy.
This originally wasn't supposed to take effect until 2024, but thanks to Governor Ralph Northam, the Virginia General Assembly was able to expedite the legalization bill.
As of right now there is no word on what this means for dispensaries, but just get ready for a chill summer in Virginia this year!
