America’s Top Cities For A Quickie…Vacation

While there’s nothing better than having a full week off from work for vacation, except for maybe two, not everyone has the luxury of being able to get that much time off. Well, just because long trips may not be in the cards, it doesn’t mean folks aren’t getting away, and it turns out most people actually prefer a quick jaunt rather than a longer trip.

A new survey by Hotwire finds:

  • 75% of Americans want to travel more to make up for not being able to take trips for the past 18 months.
  • 83% of people say they prefer a quick, spontaneous trip.
  • Most tay that such two-to-three-night trips are less stressful to plan, and allow for mor spontaneity and more savings.
  • 79% say they plan to use money saved by booking a short trip to up their getaway game. Ways of doing that include:
    • Adding fun, active experiences to their itineraries (41%)
    • Splurging on an expensive meal (35%)
    • Pampering themselves with a massage or spa treatment (29%)

Well, for the third year in a row, Hotwire has released their “America’s Best Cities for a Quickie Index,” with the “quickie” being a vacation, not some nookie, although there’s nothing stopping that from happening on the trip.

Top “Quickie” cities include:

  • Major Metropolis – New York tops the list, followed by Chicago
  • Mid-Sized Must-See – Atlanta tops the list, followed by Baltimore
  • Small Town Favorites – Orlando tops the list, followed by Fort Lauderdale.
  • Itty Bitty City – Savannah is on top, followed by Palm Springs, California
