Do you ever feel like you could do a better job setting up store displays than those who actually work at a store? Well, in case you missed it, one girl certainly did, and her actions has sparked a huge debate online.
Kelsey Venkov recently shared a video on TikTok of her decorating an aisle in her local target, fixing up an empty chair with some cut holiday-themed accessories. “I was in Target today minding my own business until I stumbled upon this chair. It was very lonely and it needed some love,” she explains in her video. “So, I took it upon myself to decorate since all the decor was right there. And people might even get ideas from it, so why not?”
The post received more than three million views, 620,100 likes and 10,600 comments, but not everyone was supportive of Kelsey’s decorating, even though she thought it might actually help sales in the store.
- “You’ve obviously never worked a retail job omg why,” one person commented.
- While another added, “I’m really just thinkin about how the Target employees are probably gonna have to put it away.”
- Another noted, “Not you being so entitled you think Target nEedDs YoU. Baby go home.”
Meanwhile, Kelsey told Buzzfeed she didn’t understand all the negative feedback. “I didn’t feel like I was creating any extra work for employees. I would understand if I was grabbing things from different departments and making a mess, but I didn’t,” she said. “I’ve been getting DMs saying how horrible of a person I am and tearing my character down, which I don’t think is fair.”
And it seems Target didn’t really to care. When she went back to the store recently she noticed that the chair was still decorated how she left it. Check out the video here.
