If you’ve been avoiding the dating scene in 2020, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do. As just about every single trying to keep hope for love alive in lockdown can tell you, there’s a lot to learn. For starters, there’s basically an entire new dictionary of dating terms created in the quarantine that can give you an idea of what you’re getting yourself into. Here are some highlights:
- Zoom Date.Starting off with an easy one. This is the go-to way to have a get-together and generally, there’s a good amount of technical difficulties and sometimes a good conversation. If things go really well, it could end up being a “Virtual One Night Stand,” which is like a regular one-night stand, but without all the physical touching and germs.
- Coronavirus Boyfriend. In general, a coronavirus boyfriend, or “rona BF” for short, is someone you met before the world went sideways and have since gotten serious with mostly out of boredom. Would this relationship be a thing without a virus sweeping the nation?Probably not.But that’s a problem for future you to work out.
- Corona-zoned.If you’ve matched with someone during quarantine and decided at some point this person isn’t going to make it to the next level of courting, you’ve officially corona-zoned someone. But if you don’t let this person know, and keep on messaging them, you’re actually a “Corona Clinger,” aka someone who messages 24/7 but has no intention of a post-rona relationship.
- Turbo Relationship.Life is short, and people’s patience is shorter. Some folks are matching, falling in love, and moving in together within just a few weeks. It would go faster if they could, but there’s that pesky quarantine waiting period.
