It’s official. We all work with monsters. If you’ve ever had something “go missing” at work, or even just straight up caught a colleague stealing, you’re not alone.A new survey says it’s basically as common in the office as small talk about the weather.
The study found one in seven people have had a coworker steal something from them during their career. And we’re not talking taking the free doughnut you’d been eyeing all day type of stealing. The majority of people say they’ve had a coworker steal money from them. Not cool!
The research also dove into what people say the most annoying traits their coworkers have, and the results showed why company parties tend to be so awkward. Dishonesty topped the list with 66% stating that this was the worst. It was followed closely by 65% of workers grossed out by poor hygiene around the office.People are basically as upset about stealing as they are about the guy who doesn’t wear deodorant.
- No worries though, even if you are a smelly thief, it’s pretty likely that your coworkers won’t ever call you on it. The study found most workers tend to ignore annoying habits and only 44% are brave enough to tell their coworkers to change things up.
