Pete Davidson Comes To Ariana Grande's Defense Over Sentimental Gift

It's been a whirlwind romance for Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, but day in and day out, the couple continues to prove that they are in this thing for the long haul.

Over the weekend, Pete posted a photo of Ariana wearing a very significant piece of jewelry that sparked a little bit of backlash, and he quickly came to her defense in the comments.

Pete posted a photo of his fiance wearing a a necklace with a pendant of his late father Scott’s FDNY badge. For those who do not know, Pete's father died during the terrorist attacks on New York on September 11, 2001.

The pendant Ariana is wearing has the number 8418 on it, which is the badge number worn by Scott during the attacks and at the time he passed away. Ariana has the number tattooed on her foot and Pete has it on his forearm.

One fan thought the sentiment was going a little too far, writing "“No girl should ever wear your dad’s chain. So disrespectful."

But Pete gave not only a sincere but understandable response:

"For ur information that’s not just some girl, that’s my fiancé. She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.”

Aaaaand cue the waterworks.

Maybe to some the gift seems to be going too far, but at the end of the day, if Pete wants Ariana to have it and wear it, then I don't see how anyone can fight his reasoning.

I'm sure it is difficult for both Pete and Ariana knowing that she will never get the chance to meet his late father, but this is something that makes them both feel a little closer to him.

On a much less serious note, Ariana also spent the weekend taking care of her fiance who got his wisdom teeth removed... and the photo is hilarious:

And he made a great point: "why did my doctor put this thing around my face like it's the 20s?"

Ha!

Get better soon, Pete!
