CDC Says Flu Remains Widespread, Death Toll May Rise

The flu shot can make the difference between life and death. Federal health officials said today three out of four children who have died so far this flu season had not gotten shots. She also released the results of a new study showing this year's vaccine is 36% effective overall against influenza Types A and B. The CDC is urging Americans to still get a flu shot since flu activity remains widespread with several weeks left to go in the season.

Meanwhile, flu shots are proving to be just 25% effective against the worst – and most prevalent – strain this year.
