Hurricane Irma becomes Category 4 storm

As people in Houston are healing from Hurricane Harvey are healing from the horror that was that storm, we now have another to worry about. 

Hurricane Irma became a Category 4 storm Monday with 145 mph winds making it the strongest September Atlantic hurricane storm since Igor in 2010. As a result of the storms increasing strength Puerto Rico has declared a state of emergency. 

Weather watchers are saying that there is an increasing chance that Irma could impact the east coast of Florida. As a result Florida Governor Rock Scott is getting in front of the storm and issuing a state of emergency for the entire state.

What the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Might Call Baby Number Three

Its official! We have another royal baby coming!

he Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that they are expecting their third child.  Kensington Palace said the couple, along with the Queen and other members of the Royal Family, are "delighted" with the news.

Now there are rumors as to what the baby's name will be. Topping the list for girls' names are Alice and Elizabeth. And for a boy, its James. Queen Victoria's second daughter was called Alice as was Prince Philip's mother (Prince William's great-grandmother).  James has been the name of several kings, and is the name of Kate's brother.

Harvey aftermath: FEMA to 'rush recovery money' for insurance claims

After Hurricane Harvey caused epic flooding along the Gulf Coast, insured flooding victims will be able to get financial relief a little bit faster. FEMA announced a temporary change Monday that would "rush recovery money" into the hands of flood insurance policy holders. "When a policyholder contacts his/her insurer and verifies his/her identity, he/she can receive an advance payment for up to $5,000 on a flood claim, without an adjuster visit or additional documentation," FEMA said.

A high school in Utah is going to fine students if they are late for class

Parents are not loving this schools new policy about tardiness.

Stansbury Park High School in Stansbury Park, Utah has instituted a new policy in which students will be fined if they are late for class. The kids will get by with a warning on their first late arrival but after that they’ll have to start paying up, $3 for their second late arrival, and $5 for each one after that. Some are suggesting it’s just a way for the school to make money, although the funds will actually go back to the students.
