Did you know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US? More people die in our country each year from suicide than war, murder and natural disasters COMBINED. Yes combined. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is holding their annual Out Of The Darkness Walk on Sunday October 6th at West Shore Park in Baltimore.

These walks are so important for the AFSP to continue to do their research and support survivors of suicide loss.

I was asked why I'm walking on October 6th and my answer was very hard for me to say but it's the truth. One of my very good friends killed himself almost one year ago. He was a father of two beautiful children and his kids meant the world to him. He would light up the room when he came in and everybody loved being around him. His laugh was contagious. His smile was always ear to ear and his love for his friends was unmatched. But it wasn't enough. Something was missing and something happened.

We would have deep conversations about life and our jobs and I never ever thought it would've ended like the way it did. For days and months and even right now I keep beating myself up and question why I didn't pick this up? Why didn't I see this coming? What could I have done to prevent this? All questions that I will never ever get answers to.

That is why I am joining in on the walk to help spread the word and help raise funds so we can help prevent suicide in our country. I want to be there for someone who needs to talk and needs to know they matter.

I know we have crazy busy lives and we all have a lot going on. But for one second just stop and think about what this is for and what it could mean to someone if you donated or joined in on the walk.

You can either join my team, create your own or just donate to help support.

On Sunday October 6th at West Shore Park in Baltimore, I will be walking for my friend Joe.
