Montgomery County Food Bank Looking For Donations For Thanksgiving

The Bethesda-based organization, So What Else is asking for donations for Thanksgiving to help feeding tens of thousands of families across the D.C. region for Thanksgiving.

So What Else has a goal to provide 24,000 households with a Thanksgiving meal and it’s urgently seeking donations. They specifically needs protein, such as turkey, ham or chicken.

There are a few ways you can help:

  • Donate Money. For $24, you can sponsor a family and provide their holiday meal.
  • Donate Food. They needs: turkey/ poultry, canned foods, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, bags of rice and beans, rinner rolls, sweet potatoes, green beans, etc.
  • Volunteer. If you can’t donate money or food, you can give your time. "So What Else" will have extended hours leading up to Thanksgiving for volunteers to help distribute food:
    • Saturday, November 23rd- 4:30am- 3 pm
    • Monday- Thursday, November 25th through the 27th, 7 am- 7pm
