Parking Garage Near Baltimore's Inner Harbor Collapses

Baltimore City Fire's PIO provided a press conference regarding the partial collapse of the parking garage at 1 E. Pratt St, which housed 231 spots.

At the time of the press conference, Assistant Chief Stewart shared that building engineers were en route to the scene and building inspectors were present.

Mayor Scott also offered his comments during the presser: "We're grateful that there is no one injured in this incident...we are grateful to the women and men of the fire department for responding, our city inspectors and engineers who are either here or will be here working on site, working with all those impacted for something that we never want to see happen."

Councilman Costello shared that if your vehicle is inside of the garage, you need to contact the garage's parking vendor, SP Plus (vendor), for more information on when it will be safe to gather your vehicle. He also announced the stretch of Charles St. spanning from Pratt to Conway will be closed indefinitely and residents are being asked to stay away from the area unless necessary.

When asked how often the parking structure is inspected inspected, Assistant Chief Stewart responded with yearly.

The Baltimore City Fire Department shared on social media this morning (Friday, July 15) that a parking garage located at 1 E. Pratt St. near the city's Inner Harbor has collapsed.

Fox Baltimore reports that the 1st and 2nd floors have faced the damage.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. A briefing will begin at 11:30A.
