Ghislane Maxwell, infamously known as an associate to American financier Jeffrey Epstein, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for assisting in baiting young women to be sexually abused by the late millionaire.

Maxwell, 60, was sentenced in New York today, June 28, "following her December conviction on five criminal counts, including sex trafficking," according to 6ABC News.

If you're unfamiliar with the case, federal prosecutors describe the duo as "partners in crime who sexually exploited young girls together."

"Ghislaine Maxwell played an instrumental role in the horrific sexual abuse of multiple young teenage girls," prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum. "As part of a disturbing agreement with Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell identified, groomed, and abused multiple victims, while she enjoyed a life of extraordinary luxury and privilege."

Epstein was arrested in 2008 and again in 2019 for child prostitution and sex trafficking. He committed suicide in his cell and was found on August 10, 2019.
