While we all anticipate the upcoming season 5 of Hulu's hit series The Handmaid's Tale, we'll be mentally preparing ourselves for a plot without Emily/Ofglen because actress Alexis Bledel has announced that she's stepping away from the series.
“After much thought, I felt I had to step away from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ at this time. I am forever grateful to Bruce Miller for writing such truthful and resonant scenes for Emily, and to Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their support,” Variety has reported.
Bledel's character Emily has been a key element to the show since season 1 as an ally of lead character June, portrayed by Elizabeth Moss. This role has landed Bledel an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress - Drama Series as well as and three additional nominations.
