Jury Reaches Verdict in Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard Trial

The famed Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial happening in Fairfax, VA has reached an unanimous conclusion they are in favor of Johnny Depp in his libel lawsuit against his ex-wife and that she defamed him. Depp is entitled to $10 million in compensatory damages and punitive damages of $5 million. The jury also found in favor of Heard, who was awarded $2 million in her defamation countersuit case which claims she was defamed by Depp's lawyer when he said her abuse allegations were a hoax.

This all started when Heard wrote an opinionated piece for the Washington Post about being a domestic abuse survivor and Depp sued her for $50 million. As a countersuit, Heard sued Depp for $100 million.

The actors have been on trial for the past month and the jury has been deliberating for three days.

“I knew I couldn't just forgive him, right, because that means it will happen again. Like, I've seen the health class videos,” Heard cried to the jurors during the case. “I was heartbroken.”

Depp denied the allegations that he sexually abused Heard and that was instead making these claims to kill his reputation.

“I have never in my life committed sexual battery, physical abuse, all these outlandish, outrageous stories of me committing these things,” he said. “And living with it for six years, and waiting to be able to bring the truth out.”
