We never thought we'd be typing this...but please don't drink the liquid that comes with at-home COVID test kits. And we can't imagine that the Virginia Poison Center would have felt the need to address it either, yet here we are.

"The liquid in most vials (reagent) is poisonous, luckily it comes in very small amounts. Usually not enough to cause a poisoning in case of an accident. Do call us for guidance if you or a loved one is exposed to this liquid," they shared on their site.

So don't cautiously consume the small vials of liquid, got it. It is best that if you have a kit like this, to store it away from children and never let them test themselves. It's also suggested that you don't open the kit until necessary and to store it away from personal care products such as eye drops.

If you ever do run into an issue where you need to contact the Poison Helpline, their number is 1-800-222-1222.
