Caitlyn Jenner Announces that She is Running for Governor of California

4th Annual Women's March LA: Women Rising

First the Olympics, then reality television and now...political office. What hasn't Caitlyn Jenner tried yet?

Jenner announced on her social media accounts this morning (Friday, April 23) that she has submitted paperwork to run for Governor of California.

"I'm in! California is worth fighting for," she captioned the posts.

"California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision."

Jenner, 71, is a longtime Republican and is seeking to replace Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom.
