Chris Harrison Will Not Host Next Season of "The Bachelorette"

Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020

There will be no more roses for Chris Harrison, because he is out as the host for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.

The franchise made the announcement on Friday night that Harrison will not be guiding the upcoming bachelorette on her journey for love.

In the statement, the franchise says they "support Chris in the work that he is committed to doing. In his absence, former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will support the new Bachelorette through next season."

"As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion withinThe Bachelor franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew, including among the executive producer ranks. These are important steps in effecting fundamental change so that our franchise is a celebration of love that is reflective of our world."

Conversation around Harrison first began when he came to the defense of contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, a finalist on Matt James' current season of The Bachelor. Kirkconnell had previously posted photos attending a plantation themed party in college as well as engaged with racist posts on social media. When former bachelorette Rachel Lindsay talked to Harrison about these actions in a recent interview, he encouraged that Bachelor Nation offer Kirkconnell grace for her past actions.

The franchise has not yet announced who their 2021 bachelorette will be.

Harrison has been the sole host of The Bachelor franchise since 2002.
