Cardi B Hits Back After Saying She Drugged, Robbed Men During Stripper Days

Cardi B isn't going to let her past drag her down after a three-year-old Instagram Live video resurfaced, where the rap titan admitted to drugging and robbing men who wanted to have sex with her during her time as a stripper to make ends meet.

"I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f**k me? Yeah, let’s go back to this hotel.' And I drugged n**has up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do," she said in the viral clip, prompting #SurvivingCardiB to take over Twitter trends. Despite wanting to remove herself from the buzz with a hiatus from the social media platform, the chart-topper took to Instagram on Tuesday (March 26) to set the record straight with an explanation to her confessions.

"So I'm seeing on social media that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up. A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past, right or wrong, that I felt I needed to do to make a living. I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world with a perfect past," she explained in the lengthy post. "I always speak my truth. I always own my sh*t. “I'm a part of a hip-hop culture where you can talk about where you come from, talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are. There are rappers that glorify murder, violence, drugs, and robbing. Crimes they feel they had to do to survive."

Cardi went on to admit that she's never glorified her wrongdoings nor has she incorporated them into her music because she's not proud of it. "I made the choices that I did at the same time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not," she concluded the post.
