Mekhi Johnson, a senior at the Gilman School in Baltimore, MD, has done what few students have accomplished: been accepted to all 8 Ivy League colleges. The 8 schools are:
- Brown University
- Columbia University
- Cornell University
- Dartmouth College
- Harvard University
- Princeton University
- University of Pennsylvania
- Yale University
Johnson is an exceptional student at Gilman. He is a National Merit Scholar with a 98.1 average who participates with the yearbook and literary magazine, hand bell choir, jazz band, drum line, musical theater productions, a capella group and is the president of the Diversity Council. As if his resume isn't already impressive, he is also a volunteer with the Bridges program, which is an enrichment program for elementary school students.
According to Gilman (as reported by FOX Baltimore), Johnson set this goal for himself when he was just 6-years-old after learning of another student who made the same accomplishment. It is reported that approx. 280,000 students applied to the Ivy League last year and less than 5 were accepted by all of them.
Johnson has not made a decision on where he will attend school next year.
